Betsy and Blake

I had the wonderful privilege to meet Betsy and Blake, and shoot their engagement photos back in September.  We met up, and began our shoot at at Lair 'O the Bear Park, and finished up at O'Fallen Park, along Bear Creek in Jefferson County.  It was a typically beautiful fall afternoon in the Colorado foothills, just west of Denver.  Being a product of Bear Creek High School, I spent my fair share of time in these parks.  I scouted them out for a photo shoot long ago...

Betsy is a Kansas State alum, and Blake is a die hard Vikings fan from South Dakota.  We spent the afternoon talking about football, Colorado, and their upcoming nuptials in October.  They were very into each other, and I had a great time capturing their images.  I also had the pleasure of shooting their wedding images in downtown Denver.  Definitely one of my favorite couples from 2011; I will share some of their wedding images in my next posting.

In the meantime here are a few of their engagement images from that day back in September...

Larkspur, Colorado Wedding / Isabel and Matthew

I know, two blog posts in the same week.  Yes, I am feeling ok.  I was able to shoot several weddings this summer, and I've finally been able to find a little time share them.

Easily one of my favorite weddings of all time, had to be Isabel and Matt's wedding in early September.  Nestled in a picturesque valley south of Larkspur, Colorado, is the beautiful Spruce Mountain Ranch.  I was booked as a second shooter for this one, which gave me plenty of time to hang out with the groom and his buddies.  And, since they decided to stagger the coverage, I was the only shooter after the ceremony ended, which meant that I got to cover the reception.

I like doing a lot of black and whites, and muted, aged looks, but since there was so much rich color on this day, I decided to leave a lot of the images in their full color.  There was a decidedly Latin flavor which made it feel almost like a destination wedding.  Here are some of their images!

Evergreen Wedding Photographer / Taylor and Matt

This past August, I had the honor of photographing Taylor and Matt's wedding at the Hiwan Golf Club in Evergreen, Colorado.  Although I had been somewhat familiar with the location (after all, I am a native of the front range), I have never had an opportunity to visit the club.  Shooting a wedding there was a dream come true for me.

I was contacted the day before, to shoot this wedding.  The original photographer called the bride as she was going to the rehearsal, to cancel her services for the next day.  Needless to say, it was quite a shock to the couple and their families.  Now, I don't want to make it sound like it's all about the photography, and nothing else matters, but... um, well, it kind of is.  So much planning, preparation and investment goes into a wedding, and the last thing a bride wants to hear as she's happily going to rehearse for the biggest day of her life, is that "I'm sorry, but I can't shoot your wedding, TOMORROW..."  I can't imagine ever, ever doing that to a bride.  A professional always has a backup plan, including equipment, and a backup photographer, in case something unforeseen happens.

Fortunately, I was contacted.  It was very late notice, but I jumped at the opportunity to shoot a wedding at Hiwan.  Although I had never met the bride, it turned out that she is a nurse at the hospital where I worked in the finance department.  Kind of a small world.

The concept of giving away his beautiful daughter was a tough one to accept for the father of the bride, but all in all, it was a wonderful wedding.  They got married right on one of the tee boxes.  Hiwan was everything I'd always imagined it to be.  Here are a few random images from that day...
